Marzena Zacharewicz is ranked among the best Polish cartoonists, illustrators and painters of the young generation. She was born in 1964 in Marienburg, the former capital of the Teutonic Order (currently in Poland). In 1990 she graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun. Her pastels suffused with poetic, delicate charm and mystery trigger the delight and recognition of connoisseurs and the public at large. Marzena Zacharewicz is a laureate of many competitions and prestigious awards. Her works have been exhibited at more than a dozen individual exhibitions and over ninety collective exhibitions in Europe and around the world. She has repeatedly involved herself in the promotion of art, even in the role of a curator of collective exhibitions commemorating “Andersen” (2005) and “Aesop” (2008). Marzena Zacharewicz’s illustrations and paintings are famous for their mysterious charm and metaphysical climate. In a way that only she can, reality is deformed to make way for lightness and cheerfulness. Thanks to her great technical mastery of pastels, she introduces in her works a variety of colors and irregular or even crevassed textures in multilayers. With the wide range of possibilities that pastels offer, she precisely mirrors the structure of objects, or to our joy, brings us deep into the world of fantasy and beauty.
