Ewa Kozyra Pawlak was born in Wrocław, Poland. In 1985, she graduated in painting and sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, in the workshop of the well-known painter J.J. Aleksiun and in the studio of the eminent graphic artist Edward Get-Stankiewicz. Immediately after graduation, she took up book illustrating. Using various techniques, from drawing and painting to sewed illustrations with needle and thread, she has designed and illustrated dozens of books for the most prestigious Polish, French and Korean publications. Endowed with an extraordinary talent and sensitivity, Ewa Kozyra Pawlak has conquered the hearts of small readers in Poland and in the world. She has won many awards and distinctions, including the award in the PTWK Competition for “The Most Beautiful Books of the Year in Poland” in 2001, “Pro Bologna” in 2002, and in the same competition but a year later, third place in the children’s audience ranking. Ewa Kozyra-Pawlak likes to combine her painting and graphic work with Polish translations of English poetry for children.
