Aleksandra Kucharska-Cybuch is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. She studied in the Studio of Scenography under Jerzy and Lydia Skarżyński, Kazimierz Wiśniak, and Wojciech Krakowski. She specializes in drawing, illustration, graphic arts and scenography. She participated in group exhibitions in Poland and abroad; for example, at the Slovak Institute in Warsaw and in Humlebaek, Denmark. Her individual exhibitions were displayed in the Polish embassy in The Hague, Amsterdam, Maastricht, the Polish Institute in Bratislava, and at “Kuncewiczówce” in Kazimierz Dolny. She participated several times in the International Biennale of Illustration in Bratislava (BIB), and more recently in its silver jubilee in 2015. She has illustrated about 60 children’s books, including the 10-volume series of books by Father Jan Twardowski, several editions of the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen and the Grimm brothers, as well as “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens,“The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”, “The Mysterious Child”, and “The Golden Pot” by E. T. A. Hoffmann. She is the author of many book covers, including books by Jorge Luis Borges, Mikhail Bulgakov, and Lucy Maud Montgomery (“Anne of Green Gables”). She works with many prestigious Polish publishing houses and is considered one of the most distinguished Polish illustrators.
